Dr Pat O'Callaghan Sports Complex

Clonmel Town F.C purchased the Sports Complex in 1993 from Clonmel Corporation. It is named after one of Ireland's most famous Olympian's and much loved citizen of Clonmel the late Dr Pat O'Callaghan. The complex is used for a variety of sports including Indoor Football, Racquetball, Aerobics and Squash as well as being home to our Football teams. It is also used by our local Hurling team St Mary's for indoor Hurling training. The Complex has also been used as the Count Centre for the South Tipperary By-Elections and The General Election of 2002. Also many organisations use the facilities in the complex for non-sporting events. The club is currently embarking upon a major fundraising campaign to develop the Sports Complex as a premier sporting facility in Clonmel. This development programme has seen the installation of an all weather playing surface, and the building of new dressingrooms. The projects success will uphold and cherish the memory of Dr Pat O'Callaghan and in addition will give pride to all sportsmen past and present. The challenge ahead for the club is to raise sufficient funds to develop the complex over a period of years to provide the highest possible standard of sporting facilities for use and enjoyment by the players and public alike.

Clonmel Town's New All Weather Pitch

In 2002 and 2005 the club were granted over EUR250,000 from the National Lottery to fund the new dressingrooms and an all weather pitch. Both are now completed. The next phase of the development is to install a new heating system and to develop and excavate land to build a second pitch. This second pitch is essential for the development and coaching of our schoolboy and schoolgirl teams. The club has over 250 children as members. In order to maintain the high standard of coaching, this second pitch is vital. We are currently in negotiations with Clonmel Borough Council, in attempt to purchase this piece of land. It is hoped that an agreement can be reached so that we can implement the next phase of this important development.
From our experience, Clonmel people and companies in the town have throughout the years never flinched when supporting sport and various other essential voluntary groups. We are therefore, appealing for a donation towards the development of this badly needed facility so that Clonmel Town F.C. can establish sports facilities at the Complex that befits a town of the status of Clonmel. A Development Committee as been put in place to oversee these projects.
