Youths Complete Domestic Treble - 1st Jun

The Youths finished off the season on Saturday evening with a hard earned win over St Michaels in the Joe Delaney Cup Final in Bansha. After goin in 1-0 down at the break Town fought back gallantly led by the inspiration Michael Coady who only the night before had claimed the TSDL Youth Player Of The Year at the Awards Ceremony. Kieran Kenrick scored the all important equaliser 15 minutes in the second half heading home from a corner while David McGrath secured the Cup for Town when he capatilised on a goalkeeping error to slot home. When done to all involved.

Scully & Coady Claim Awards - 1st Jun

Tony Scully and Michael Coady captured Premier and Youth Players Of The Year respectively last Friday night at the Referees Awards night in Clonmel. It was the first time both players had claimed this award. Hard luck to Neil Beckett who was nominated for 1st Division Player but that accolade was awarded to Ballingarry's Michael Ivors. Neil has been nominated for the past 3 consecutive seasons which is a great achievement alone. Paul Landers was also nominated in the Youth section but to no shame lost out to his teammate Coady. For Coady and Scully, they both had amazing years. Tony who secured the double with Town capped off his year by winning 2 International caps with the Irish Junior team in the Isle Of Man. Coady picked up 5 trophys this year with both the Youth and Junior sides and is rapidly developing into one of the most exciting prospects in the South East. Well done to all Tony, Michael, Paul and Neil.

Town Complete Domestic Double - 1st Jun

Our Junior team completed a Tipperary League and Cup double thanks to a 2-1 win over St Michael’s last Sunday. We went into the game without the services of some key players but the boys were not to be deterred and a combination of hard work and some great football laid the platform for a deserved victory. This is our first Tipperary Cup since we last won the double in 2004 and our 13th overall. Town to their credit were on top right from the first whistle and on 7 minutes we were extremely unlucky not to go in front. Rory Kiely’s great header from a Tony Scully corner smashed off the crossbar. The football being played by Town was of the highest order and Dwayne Burns was Town’s tormentor in chief. On 15 minutes he beat two Michael’s defenders before dragging his shot just wide. Paul Scully and Ian Barnes were now pulling the strings in midfield and on 22 minutes Barnes pulled a good save out of Derek Breen. Two minutes later Barnes was taken down just outside the box. Tony Scully stepped up to take the free, his effort looked to have goal written all over it but it just shaved the post. Then on 35 minutes came the games opening goal. Stephen Ryan played an excellent ball out of defence; Tony Scully picked the ball up in midfield. He then showed all of his quality, by delaying the pass a split second before putting Rory Kiely in on goal, Rory showed great composure to shoot past Derek Breen to give Town a deserved lead. Town dominated the remainder of the half but couldn’t get that second crucial goal. The first ten minutes of the second half was a very scrappy affair as both teams once again tried to gain control of the match. Eventually Town got the ball back down on the deck and started to play some neat football. On 55 minutes, Ian Barnes worked a great opening for himself but his shot sailed over the crossbar. As the game got a bit stretched, there was more room for our wide players to operate in and Dwayne Burns and Rory Kiely certainly took advantage. A great ball from Paul Scully set Dwayne free down the left but he was taken down by Pa Quinn. Five minutes later Dwayne was up ended again, this time by Paul Tobin. Dwayne took a heavy knocked to his head but he was able to resume. Paul Tobin did continue but had to come off a few minutes later and everyone at Clonmel Town would like to wish Paul a speedy recovery. Five minutes after sustaining that heavy knock, Dwayne scored the second killer goal. Michael Coady and Paul Scully did brilliantly to win the ball back from Christopher Higgins; Ian Barnes then chased it down before crossing the ball to the far post where the inrushing Dwayne Burns provide a cool finish to put Town 2 up and firmly in the driving seat. That goal would have finished most teams off but not St Michael’s. With ten minutes remaining Paul Kennedy headed Chris Higgins free kick to the net and suddenly the cup final was alive again. Two minutes later, Town failed to clear their lines as the ball and as bobbled dangerously around the box, Richie Ryan did very well to save from Davy Ryan. Then Paul Scully somehow managed to clear Pa Quinn’s shot off the line. We then had to endure some nervous moments but in the end, we held out for a deserved victory. Dwayne Burns was deservedly awarded the man of the match award. Well done to Charlie, Sean, the squad of players, PJ O'Reilly and Bernard "Pinky" O'Neill on what has been another excellent season for the club. We would also like to thank all our sponsors but in particular Brian Mclean and The Local Bar. We would also like at this time to thank Michael O'Mahoney of MCP Packaging for his sponsorship. Lastly but not least, you our wonderful supporters. We say this every week but this club would not function without your continued and loyal support of all our teams. This club and the teams that represent this club, are yours and represent the club and the Town with great pride.. Those of us who are fortunate enough to be involved in running the club, will do our very best to ensure that the high standards that have been set at this club over the last 43 years will be maintained. With a combination of all these things, we won't be to far away from lifting a trophy or two again come next May.

TOWN ARE CHAMPIONS - 18th May

A scoreless draw was enough for Clonmel Town to secure their 5th Premier League title in a row against St Michaels on Sunday afternoon. More to follow.

B's Romp To Purtill Victory - 27th Apr

The B team finished off their season in style romping to victory in the Paddy Purtill Cup final in the immaculate turf of Cahir Park on Friday evening. Realistically this game was over at half-time as Town went in at the break with a 4-0 lead thanks to an amazing 1st half display of full of commitment, pride and courage. It all started with whirlwind 18 minutes of total football. Dwaine Burns set the tone for the evening after 2 minutes as he scored from an blistering effort from outside the box which rebounded off the underside of the bar and into the net. Inspiring Captain Pakie Larkin broke his scoring duck for the season as got on the end of a flick-on to drill his header to the net 8 minutes into proceedings. On 18 minutes top scorer Decky O'Brien made it 3-0 when he used his blistering pace to close down the Cashel Town centre half to create and opening and his lob past the incoming keeper was a wonderful piece of skill. Town were well on top in all areas of the field with the back four of Cleary, Gibbons, Beckett and Scully defending for their lives, the industrious Barry Kiely and Larkin in midfield and the collusus Brian Glasheen up front kept piling on the pressure and were rewarded as an inswinging corner was forced home by Thomas O'Mahoney for his 2nd goal of the season to send the Town supporters into wild celebrations to revel in a 4-0 half-time lead. Cashel regrouped at half-time and begun the 2nd half with more intent and had Town pinned back in their own half and pulled a goal back when Andrew Flanagan scored from a header on 65 minutes. Simon Scully switched to centre midfield and Eddie O'Brien and David McGrath were introduced which seemed to give Town that extra lift. Town battled hard and fought tooth and nail and finally made the game safe on 75 minutes as great work from the Wizard Dwaine Burns and Barry Kiely created an opening for David McGrath to slot home for his 9th goal of the season and put the icing on the cake for his team. This was a fantastic performance for the B team and just reward for their hard work all season after been narrowly pipped to the league title by a single point for the 2nd year in a row. Well done to all the players and management who can be proud of their achievements for 2007/08.

The B team qualified for the Paddy Purtill Cup Final with a hard earned 6-2 win over neighbours Killusty in Ferryhouse. Dwaine Burns opened the scoring when he finished home from a Barry Kiely cross. Kiely made it 2-0 on 20 minutes as his effort gave the keeper no chance at his near post. Town missed chances to increase their lead and were made pay for it in the 2nd half as Killusty pulled one back as they were rewarded a penallty. They then drew level at 2-2 when a mixup in the defence saw the ball loop over Brian Glasheen's head and into the net. This woke up Town as they begun to start up the tempo and shortly afterwards they took the lead again when Dwaine Burns finished to the net following a fine solo effort. Declan O'brien finally got on the scoresheet when he was sent clear thanks to a sublime back heal from Jan Seamonick to make it 4-2. The other three nations that will be participating with the Rep of Ireland are the hosts the Isle of Man, Scotland (who are the current holders) and Northern Ireland. Scully (28) has been in superb form for his for his club this season and has been one of Town's key players over the last number of seasons, with him averaging over 20 goals a season. Some would feel that this is a long overdue honour for the midfield dynamo. His stunning goal in the recent FAI Junior Cup tie against Evergreen was testament to his outstanding talent. Scully now joins a growing list of players from Clonmel Town who have been capped at this level, Cyril Conran (who captained the side), Stephen O'Neill, Aaron Moroney, Tony Norris and Kevin Waters have all worn the green jersey with pride. Clonmel Town qualified for the last 16 of the FAI Junior Cup for the 3rd year running with a hard worked 2-1 defeat of Kilkenny league leaders Evergreen. Tony Sculy's all important goal 10 minutes from time was just reward for a gritty display from Town who had took the lead minutes into the first half when Ray Condon forced home a corner to put his side one up until 15 minutes into the second half Evergreen drew level but thankfully Scullys fine finish put his team through to round seven where they will meet either Balydoyle Utd or Cherry Orchard. Well done to all involved.

A's Advance In Tipp Cup - 30th Dec

A Tony Scully hatrick was enough for the A team to advance to the 2nd round of the Tipperary Cup. Their opponents and current Cup Champions St Michaels B put up a good fight and with twenty minutes remaining the sides were deadlocked at 1-1 until Scully added his 2nd and 3rd to seal their entrance to round two. Well done to all involved.

B's Record 7th On The Trot - 30th Dec

The B team will go into 2008 four points clear at the top of Division 1 thanks to a hard earned 3-1 win over nearest rivals Old Bridge in the Complex. Dwaine Burns got Town off the mark with a fantastic goal after five minutes when he won the ball in the centre circle and raced forward and his effort swept past Ray Boyle in the Bridge goal. Barry Gibbons made it 2-0 on twenty minutes when he smashed home following and inswinging corner. Barry Kiely made it 3-0 on the half hour mark when also rattled the net to give Town a comfortable half-time lead. Bridge made the perfect start to the 2nd half when Paul Ryan scored with a fine effort from the edge of the box to give Bridge a glimmer of hope but it was not to be as Town dug in hard and kept Bridge at bay for the remainder of the half while missing their fair share of chances with Decky O'Brien, Burns and Brian Glasheen all goin close. Well done to Johnny, Chris and all the players

Town Tops In Local Derby - 24th Dec

Clonmel Town defeated Clonmel Celtic on Sunday morning last 2-1 to take full points in a tough encounter. Paul Shanahan gave Town the lead in the first half with a fine effort just inside the box. Clonmel Celtic equalised when an Adam McSharry free kick was spilled for Wayne Kiely to slot home the rebound. It looked like it was goin to be a stalemate until Stephen Ryan popped up at the backpost to slide home the winner for his new club. Well done to all involved.

Town Advance To Last 32 - 16th Dec

Clonmel Town got their season back on track with a hard earned victory away to Athlone side Willow Park on Sunday afternoon. Alan Coady restored Town's lead until another equaliser 15 minutes into the 2nd half made it 2-2. Thankfully Ian Fraher had the final say as his effort making it 3-2 gave Town victory and passage into the last 32 of the FAI Junior Cup.

B Team Defeat Michaels - 16th Dec

A depleated B team with six players missing from last week had a fine win over fellow reserve side St Michaels in the Complex in the Paddy Purtill Cup on Sunday morning. Town didnt have it all their own way goin behind from a corner but fought back to make it 1-1 when Declan O'Brien scored from the spot just on the stroke of half-time. Town kicked on in the second half and from a corner Neil Beckett who before the game had been presented B Team Player Of The Year for 2006/07 season rose highest to head to the net to make it 2-1. A few hairy final few minutes were ahead for Town but solid defending from the Town backfour held their team firm led by young Simon Scully and it was only fitting that a piece of magic from Scully with 3 minutes to go sealed the game as a tie when he fooled three defenders in the box and slid the ball past the keeper for quite an indescribable and amazing individual goal.

Town Exit Munster Junior - 2nd Dec

There was dismay and disappointment on Sunday afternoon as Clonmel Town were knocked out of the Munster Junior Cup by bitter rivals St Michaels by a goal in second half extra time. This was a game there for the taking but losses through injury to Michael Coady and also Aaron Moroney didnt help. Town will now haveto pick up the pieces and concentrate on the FAI Junior Cup and domestic competitions.

B Team Wallop Moyglass - 2nd Dec

A terrific first half performance set Clonmel Town B on their way to victory over Moyglass Utd on Sunday morning. Jan Seamonick opened the scoring when he found the net with a great strike from a corner. Decky O'Brien had Town 2-0 on twenty minutes when a long clearance from Pookie Fitzgerald was magically controlled by David McGrath, he spun his marker to square ball to O'Brien to claim his 7th of the season. McGrath got in the scoring act with ten minutes remaining in the first half when he latched onto a sublime pass from Seamonick to slip the ball past the keeper. The second half started with Town facing a stiff breeze, within minutes Moyglass had pulled one back with a fine header from an inswinging corner to make it 3-1. Some hard work from the Town eleven paid off withstanding Moyglass who threw everything at Town but could not get a vital second. With fifteen minutes to go substitute Barry Kiely poked the ball past the keeper and was taken down to win a penalty which O'Brien finished with ease. This was a fine result and what was more pleasing for Town was the comeback and performance of Neil Beckett from injury in the heart of the back four. Well done to all involved.

B's Tops In Local Derby - 25th Nov

Two second half goals from Simon Scully and David McGrath was enough to see the B team record their 5th straight win of the season and claim all three points in the local derby on Sunday morning against Old Bridge. Well done to Johnny, Chris and all the players.

Town Advance In Senior Cup - 14th Nov

Our Junior A team had a fantastic 2-1 victory away to Munster Senior League leaders Passage United in Cork last Sunday. In what turned out to be a tough but open game of football, Town found themselves a goal behind as early as the 25th minute when Passage were awarded a penalty. Richie Ryan did brilliantly to save the initial kick but a Passage player reacted quickest to slam the rebound to the net. Town did create a few chances but couldn't find a way past the Passage defence. However in the 60th minute our luck changed as we were awarded a penalty. Aaron Moroney kept his cool to level the tie. Five minutes later we hit the front when Tony Scully scored with a stunning free kick. It was a superb strike worthy to win any game. In the remaining twenty minutes, there were further chances for both sides but we managed to hold out for a great win. Well done to Charlie, Sean and all the players.

Kiely Double Seals Win - 14th Nov

Two early goals from Rory Kiely of Clonmel Town got the Tipperary Southern & District League FAI Youth Inter-League Cup Group campaign off to a positive start and in the process gained revenge for last season’s defeat by the Limerick-Desmond League in Cooke Park, Tipperary town last Saturday. The TS & DL got off to the ideal start when Rory Kiely fired an unstoppable screamer from the edge of the area home after his original corner-kick was cleared back into his path. That goal after just two minutes laid the foundation for this victory. With the Kielys, Robert of St. Michael's and Rory of Clonmel Town pulling the strings in the middle of the park David McGrath was put through on goal but his quickly taken strike was dragged wide of the upright. It was 2-0 after 13 minutes when a header from JJ Keyes was pushed away for a corner-kick by keeper Jack O’Donoghue and from the resultant corner-kick Sean Neville, helping out his defence, cleared the ball only to Rory Kiely who returned it with interest as he fired low into the corner of the net. With the TS & DL defence mopping everything up in the opening half the nearest the Desmond League came to scoring was after thirty minutes when a through ball from Shane Carroll saw Gillian O’Connor through on goal but as he was about to pull the trigger a well timed tackle by Michael Fitzgerald in the penalty area cleared the danger. Keeper James Dunleavey was called into action only once in the opening half and that was to make a save from O’Connor who tried to control the ball in a crowded penalty area following a corner-kick. However, it was the TS & DL that should have extended their lead going into the beak when Luke Moore and JJ Keyes combined to set-up David McGrath but he again dragged his shot wide with just the keeper to beat. The Desmond League showed some early promise after the changeover with Darren Aymer through one-on-one with the keeper but shot harmlessly wide. TS & DL winger Jason Barnes who replaced the injured JJ Keyes at the break was involved in a move with Luke Moore but his centre was taken by the keeper under his crossbar while at the other end Michael Coady cleared a Darren Aymer shot off the goal-line midway through the second half. With both sides misplacing passes one of them was intercepted by Rory Kiely and although his shot beat the keeper, central defender Joe Martin got back to clear the ball off the goal-line. Paddy Tobin who replaced James Dunleavey between the posts for the TS & DL first action was to race off his line to clear from substitute Daniel Browne and shortly afterwards did well to stop a TJ Leahy direct free-kick. While over the last ten minutes although the Desmond League had more of the possession they failed to turn it into scores thanks mainly to the TS & DL rearguard that excelled on the day. The final action came from the TS & DL when James Morrissey found David McGrath who in turn found substitute Lee Burke but his strike was straight at keeper Jack O’Donoghue who gathered the ball at the second attempt, but by then it was over as a contest. It was important for the TS & DL to secure the three points on offer and Padraig O’Dwyer and his squad can now look forward with confidence to their next two Group games away to the West Waterford/East Cork League and at home to the Limerick & District League in the round-robin series.

TS & DL: James Dunleavey (Rock Rovers), Michael Fitzgerald (St. Michael's) Simon Scully, Michael Coady, Luke Moore, Paul Landers (all Clonmel Town), Robert Kiely (St. Michael's), Rory Kiely, David McGrath (both Clonmel Town), JJ Keyes (Rock Rovers), James Morrissey (Moyglass United)
Subs: Lee Burke (Cashel Town), Paddy Finnan (St. Michael’s) and Jason Barnes (Clonmel Town).
Not used: Brendan Moloney (St. Michael's), Jamie Waters (Rock Rovers), Paudie Kennedy (Killenaule Rovers) Shay Butler (Peake Villa)

U11 League: Clonmel Town (A) 7-1 Bansha Celtic - 8th Oct

Town began the league with an emphatic victory over a game Bansha Celtic in Ferryhouse last Saturday. This young side made an impressive start to playing on a full size pitch and went in front after four minutes when Ian McGrath finished low to the net after good interplay down the right between Danny Hogan and Mark O’Reilly. However Bansha equalised ten minutes later from a Sean Daly corner kick on the right, but Town’s response was emphatic. Mark O’Reilly raced down the right and his cross was drilled home from twelve yards by Luke Trimble. Town scored again just before the break when Mark O’Reilly finished off Sean Browne’s through ball from close range. The second half was only two minutes old when Mark O’Reilly doubled his tally with a good strike from the edge of the box. The victory was sealed when Keith Hackett skipped past two defenders and struck low to the net from ten yards.

U11 League: St Michaels 5-1 Clonmel Town (B) - 8th Oct

The U11B team made the journey to Tipp Town last Saturday with most of the team just starting out in their football careers and they found last year’s U10 cup winners in determined mood. Town were three nil down after just twelve minutes but to their credit they settled down to some good football and began to trouble the home side. An early goal at the start of the second half clinched victory for the home side but Town showed a lot of promise for the future and Stijn Van Der Wal pulled a goal back for the visitors following good play from Schu Matsuno and Graham Kelly. St Michaels wrapped up victory with a further goal in the final minutes but this young Town team had shown enough promise for future outings to please new manager Paul Duggan on their very first start.

U13 League: Cahir Park 0-10 Clonmel Town - 8th Oct

The U13s made it two wins from two in the league with a facile victory in Cahir last Saturday. As the scoreline suggests Town were well on top from the start and first half goals from Ian Fahey, Sammy Ryan (2), Rian Clancy (2) and Keith Browne had decided the issue by the interval. The second half continued in the same vein and Bill Maher, Colman Kennedy and Eoin Lynch (2) added further goals to bring the score into double figures before the full time whistle. Town left Cahir knowing that whilst the three points were secured in emphatic fashion, games such as this were a long way removed from the challenges that surely await these players for club and county later in the season.

U15 League: Cahir Park 1-2 Clonmel Town - 8th Oct

The U15s secured a crucial three points in their quest for three league titles in a row when they had an excellent victory over old rivals Cahir Park in Cahir last Saturday afternoon. Cahir looked the stronger side for the first fifteen minutes and it took some resolute defending to ensure that the game remained scoreless. Town’s first opportunity arrived when they were awarded a penalty after twenty minutes but the normally reliable Shane Fagan was wide with a poorly struck effort. However Town were not to be denied and soon after Shane Power and Shane Fagan combined to release Michael Quinlivan down the left and his excellent cross was brilliantly headed home by Philip Noonan at the near post. Both teams knew that the first goal of the second half would be crucial to the final outcome and though both teams had chances it was Town who finally got the vital score with fifteen minutes left. Emmett Ryan skipped away down the right and squared to Philip Noonan who laid the ball off perfectly into the path of Michael Quinlivan who drilled home from the edge of the box. The home side did manage a consolation goal in injury time with a bullet header from a right wing corner but by then Town were well on their way to a deserved three points over one of their closest rivals for league honours.

Weekend Round Up - 16th Sept

Clonmel Town advanced to round two of the FAI Junior Cup with a narrow win on penalties against Nenagh Celtic in the Complex after a pulsating 2-2 draw after 110 minutes of football. Nenagh had taken the lead but Ray Condon replied, both teams added another with Jan Seamonick hitting the net for Town. The B team suffered their first league defeat of the season going down 2-1 to Ballingarry Utd. A late dtrike from Decky O'Brien wasnt enough in a game where they wasted so many chances. The Youth team defeated rivals St Michaels 4-0 for the second time in three weeks with David McGrath, Paulie Landers and Evan McGuire with a double strike.

They now look to complete their first ever double as they play St Michaels on Wednesday night in the Cup Semi Final.

Under 11 Cup Semi Final: Cahir Park 2-1 Clonmel Town - 29th May

The U11s travelled to Cahir Park on Saturday morning determined to achieve a result in this cup semi-final but unfortunately it was to prove a bridge too far once again. Town started this game in style playing some attractive football and going ahead after ten minutes through a Dominic Walsh free kick. The visitors had several chances to increase the lead after the goal but a failure to take these chances was to come back to haunt them. Cahir equalised early in the second half through David Finnane when he lobbed the keeper from twenty yards. The remainder of the game was very close and just when the game looked like it was heading for extra time, up popped the Cahir centre forward to score the winner and break the hearts of these young Clonmel Town players once again. However defeats like this should only serve to make the team more determined when the league semi finals are played this week. Best for Town were Stephen Kelly, Dominic Walsh and Paraic Looram.

Under 13 League: Clonmel Town 4-1 Clerihan - 29th May

The U13s took a major step towards retaining the league title with a comfortable victory over Clerihan in Ferryhouse last Tuesday. Town were quickly into their stride and Conor Conneally opened the scoring after eight minutes. Kevin Gunne then made it two with a good finish ten minutes later to give Town a two goal cushion at the break. Town added two more early in the second half through Kevin Gunne and Eoin Fitzgerald and though Clerihan pulled a goal back with a late header it wasn’t enough to prevent Town stretching their lead at the top pf the table.

Under 13 League: St Michaels 0-5 Clonmel Town - 29th May

The U13s enjoyed a fantastic victory over their closest rivals for league honours when they romped to an emphatic victory over St Michaels in Tipp Town last Thursday. Town were in control from the start on a difficult pitch and Philip Noonan opened the scoring with a classy left foot finish after ten minutes. Town were two up at the break when a deep cross from the left was knocked down by Philip Noonan for his strike partner Kevin Gunne to volley home from ten yards. Levi Whelan made it three when he scored from the rebound after a Michael Quinlivan free kick from thirty yards had come back off the upright and Kevin Gunne made it four when he tapped in from close range after good work by Dean O’Mahoney. Gunne then completed his hat trick with a good finish from a Jason Clarke pass in the last few minutes to leave Town on the brink of a historic fourth league title in a row.

The U13s completed a good week’s work by reaching the cup final with a comfortable victory over Vee Rovers in picturesque Clogheen last Saturday. Under 14 League: Clonmel Celtic 1-7 Clonmel Town - 29th May

The U14s had a comprehensive victory over local rivals Celtic in Ferryhouse last Tuesday. Town were well in control from the start and lead four nil at the break through goals from Billy Hewitt, Shane Fagan and two from Caique Silva. Both Hewitt and Fagan added further goals early in the second half before Liam Boland made it seven in the fiftieth minute. The home side did pull a goal back near the end but by then the tree points were safely in the bag for the visitors.

Under 14 League: St Michaels 2-2 Clonmel Town - 29th May

The league title moved a massive step closer for the U14s when they came away from Tipp Town with a hard fought point against old rivals St Michaels last Saturday. Town knew they needed to take something from this game to put themselves just one victory away from retaining the league title and they were the better side in the early exchanges. However the home side took the lead against the run of play when a long ball out of defence wasn’t dealt with by the Town backline and the St Michaels striker finished with aplomb. It didn’t look good for Town as they still trailed to this goal as the game entered the final ten minutes, but then Shane Fagan raced onto Michael Quinlivan’s through ball and drove a screamer into the far top corner to level the scores. Disaster struck for Town when the home side went back in front with two minutes remaining with an excellent header from a right wing free kick, but in the mark of true champions Town somehow found another equaliser in stoppage time when Shane Taylor rammed home from six yards after Jonathon Ryan had knocked down a Liam Boland corner from the left. Town now need to win their final match to be crowned champions for the second season in a row.

Youths Retain Their Cup - 29th Apr

The Youths retained their Youth Cup title in Cahir Park on Sunday afternoon defeating St Michaels 3-0 after extra-time. Scoreless after ninety minutes, this was a good entertaining game with Rory Kiely and Dwaine Burns the main threat for Town. With the game looking a cert for penalties, Town broke the deadlock five minutes in the first period of extra-time when an inch perfect cross from Stephen Browne was headed home by left back Kevin O'Keefee, from here on in there was only going to be one winner. Town doubled their lead when a poor clearance from St Michaels netminder Alan Kiely reached the half way line, the influential Michael Coady nestled his header into the path of Rory Kiely and his delightful lob flew into the net to leave the keeper red faced. Dwaine Burns knocked in Town's third and final goal as great work from man of the match Rory Kiely gave Burns a simple tap in at the backpost. Town Go For Unbeaten Double - 25th Apr

Town had a 100% record last season but this season have drawn four games but can still go unbeaten so nothing but pride at stake here. Having won the title last week at Celtic with a draw, a win here would cap a great domestic season. Best of luck to Charlie, Bobba and all the players.

Clonmel Town made history on Sunday afternoon becoming the very first team ever to win four leagues on the trot by god were they made work for it. Tony Scully had opened the scoring from the penalty spot after he had been taken down. Celtic's Paul Kennedy levelled proceedings with a penalty of his own ten minutes later. Celtic shocked Town at the start of the 2nd half taking the lead through a wonder strike from Brian Waters which put Town under serious pressure but a ferocious shot from Toony Scully five minutes from time earned the point for Town which saw them capture the Liam Delahunty Cup for the 5th time in six years. Well done to Charlie, Bobba and all the players.

B's Out Of Cup - 24th Apr

The B team were disappointingly knocked out of the Tipperary Cup by Peake Villa on Sunday morning on a 4-0 screline. Things didnt go right for Town who controlled the play but their failure to deal with two corners in the first half had Villa two up. Things went from bad to worse for Town as they conceded from another set-piece which ended all hopes of a revival. Hard luck to Bradley, Johnny and all the players on a galant cup run.

U12 SFAI Cup Quarter Final: St Francis (DDSL) 2-0 Clonmel Town - 21st Apr

The U12s bowed out of the National Cup when they went under to a very strong St Francis side in Hyland Park, Baldonnel last Saturday. Town found the home side to be a physically bigger team than they had encountered before, and were very much on the back foot in the early stages. The home side took the lead after thirteen minutes through Joseph Nolan and they doubled the lead five minutes before the break with a twenty yard cracker from James Herbert. Town tried their hardest in the second half but found it very difficult to make headway against a tough tackling St Francis rearguard and the referee’s full time whistle brought an end to this teams glorious run in the National Cup for this year. Town will learn the lesson from a defeat such as this and will no doubt come back a stronger side for an assault on the National Cup next season.

U12 League: Clonmel Celtic 1-2 Clonmel Town - 21st Apr

The U12s warmed up for their National Cup game with a hard fought victory over local rivals Clonmel Celtic in the Bypass last Wednesday evening. The home side were a much stronger side than the one which was hammered by Town earlier in the campaign and they took the lead through Conor Acheson after twenty minutes. Town then laid siege to Celtic’s goal but a series of near misses were all they had to show for their efforts with fifteen minutes left on the clock. Then ace striker Bill Maher equalised with a low shot and soon after he gave Town the lead when he ran on to a through ball from Colman Kennedy and fired home from just inside the box. Town comfortably saw out the remainder of the match and so maintained their 100% record in the league.

U14 Tipperary Cup: Peake Villa 0-2 Clonmel Town - 21st Apr

The U14s advanced to a semi final meeting away to St Michaels when they enjoyed a comfortable quarter final victory over Peake Villa in Thurles on Saturday morning last. Town dominated the first half but as in the league match at this venue earlier in the season they just couldn’t score the crucial break through goal. The second half was five minutes old when Caique Silva’s deft through ball released Billy Hewitt and he rounded the keeper to score the first and shortly after Shane Ryan secured Town’s passage to the semi final when he fired low to the net from a Shane Power corner. The Town defence were never really troubled thereafter and so Town take another step in their quest for their first double at this age group.

Town In Stalemate - 8th Apr

The champagne was put on ice for Town on Sunday as St Michaels held the league champions elect Town scoreless in Cooke Park. A win would of saw Town lift the trophy in their fiercest rivals backyard but the Michaels held on following and early barrage on goal from Town which could of seen them go three up in the first 5 minutes with chances from Ilja Zemin, Aaron Moroney and Ian Barnes. Town only need one more point from their remaining games to make a historic four in a row titles. We would like to wish Aaron Moroney a speedy recovery following a nasty head injury.

Youths Win League Title - 8th Apr

A first half goal from Michael Coady was enuogh to secure the three points required for the Youths needed to win the league title on Saturday afternoon. Town went into this game missing four first team players through holidays and other commitments and were unable to get this game postponed which made victory all the more sweeter. Town also had the comfort of a missed penalty through Dwaine Burns after young Peter Acheson had been felled in the area. Well done to Chris, Bradley and all the players on a marvellous win and league title.

Shield Final For Reserves - 8th Apr

The B team who were promoted to Division 1 last week look to capture their first piece of silverware this season as they play rivals Cashel Town in the Shield Final on Monday at 3pm. These two sides are no strangers to one another so everything is to pay for. Best of luck to Bradley, Johnny and al the players.

Town Thrown Out Of Munster - 5th Apr

Pike Rovers of Limerick have won their appeal that Clonmel Town played an illegal player in their recent Munster Junior Cup Quarter Final two weeks ago. As a club we feel very disappointed with the judgement of the Munster Football Association and we feel that we owe to the management and players to take this issue as far as we can. We acknowledge a mistake was made but it was an honest one and the brutality of the decision is not a reflection of this. Also, the club's good name and integrity has now been brought into question and we must now act accordingly to clear our name. It seems comical that one player can be eligible for the FAI Junior Cup, Oscar Traynor Trophy, his own Domestic league and cups but not the Munster Junior Cup. What a joke.

Junior Action - 4th Apr

The A team on Sunday have a chance to create history as they look to make it four league titles on the trot as they only need one point from their last three league games to clinch it. The travel to Cooke Park where it has recently become a happy hunting ground for them. Best of luck to Charlie, Bobba and the lads. This game has a 3pm kick-off.

Well Done Richie - 4th Apr

Well done to our very own Richie Ryan who was recently selected to travel to Italy with the Irish Colleges football squad to play some friendlies. Well done Richie!

Youths In League Decider - 4th Apr

The Youth team need nothing but a win to secure the Youth league title on Saturday afternoon against leaders St Michaels. Town are currently two points behind the leaders. Best of luck to Chris, Bradley and all the players.

Junior Review - 2nd Apr

It was a great weekend for both our Junior sides. The A team travelled to Peake Villa and had a resounding victory over their close rivals 5-0. A hatrick from Aaron Moroney and one each from Ilja Zemin and Ian Barnes sealed viictory. This win was made even sweeter when news filtered through that fierce rivals St Michaels went down 3-1 to Clonmel Celtic. This now means that realistically Town only need one more point to seal a historic 4th league title in a row. The B team made it three promotions on the trot as they defeated Division 2 champions Moyglass Utd on their own patch 1-0 which saw them automatically promoted head of Cashel Town. Captain Fantastic Neil Beckett rose ahead of everyone else with 20 minutes left on the clock to seal the victory for his team who had controlled the games for most parts. Promotion was a must for Town B having lost the Division 2 title a couple of weeks previous. Well done to both teams.

Under 12 SFAI Cup 6th Round: Firhouse Carmel (Dublin) 0-1 Clonmel Town - 2nd Apr

Pride of place this week must go to the U12s who qualified for the quarter final of the National Cup with an excellent victory in Dublin last Sunday. Cyril Conran's team were undoubtedly the stronger from the start and Bill Maher was unlucky not to open the scoring twice in the first fifteen minutes. Town continued to dominate but couldn't make the breakthrough as some good defending and great goalkeeping by the home team kept the game scoreless at the break. The second half continued in the same vein with the Town defence never really troubled and with Keith Brown in excellent form in the middle of the field Town continued to press for the elusive lead goal. Bill Maher and Samuel Ryan both came close to making the breakthrough, and then just when it seemed as if the game was heading for extra time up popped Samuel Ryan with a powerful header to give Town the lead with three minutes left. Firhouse couldn't muster an equaliser in the remaining minutes and so Town march on to the quarter final and a meeting with St Francis (DDSL) in Dublin in three weeks.

Under 13 League: Clonmel Town 7-0 Vee Rovers - 2nd Apr

The U13s made it twenty points out of a possible twenty four when they hit seven without reply against Vee Rovers in the Complex on Saturday. Michael Quinlivan opened the scoring with a header and Conor Conneally doubled Town's advantage in the first ten minutes, and but for a series of wonderful saves by the visitor's keeper Town would have been out of sight by half time. As it was it was Eoin Fitzgerald who headed the third ten minutes after the break, before further goals from Ashley Keane, Michael Quinlivan, Conor Conneally and Aidan McGrath saw Town run out comfortable victors in the end.

Under 15 League: Cashel Town 2-6 Clonmel Town - 2nd Apr

Town travelled to Cashel for their penultimate match in the league and came away with a comfortable victory last Saturday. Craig Brew was on fire in the first half and his excellent hat trick gave Town an unassailable lead at the break. Further goals early in the second half from Evan McGuire and Evan O'Dwyer gave Town a five goal lead before the home side reduced the deficit from a long range free kick. Shane Foley restored the visitor's five goal advantage with six minutes remaining before another long range effort gave an under strength Cashel side a consolation just before the end.

Lions Club Under 14 National Cup: Clonmel Town 1-1 Portlaoise AFC (Town Win 7-6 On Penalties) - 2nd Apr

The U14s qualified for the semi final of the Lions Club National Cup with a hard fought victory over Portlaoise in the Complex on Saturday evening. With lots of the Town team playing their second game of the day it was no surprise when the visitors caught the home team cold at the start and took the lead in the very first minute through Danny Browne. Town chased the game for the remainder of the half but couldn't force an equalizer with a combination of tough defending and a very bumpy pitch making constructive football difficult. Town continued to press in the second half but an equalizer didn't look likely until David Walsh unleashed a pile driver form thirty yards that screamed into the roof of the net with ten minutes left. Neither side could force a winner in the remaining minutes and with extra time also failing to produce a winner both sides faced up to a penalty shoot out. Town successfully converted all their penalties through Michael Quinlivan, Levi Whelan, David Walsh, Shane Ryan, Jonathan Ryan, Paul Nolan and Caique Silva, and when Paul Nolan saved the visitors seventh kick Town were through to the semi final and a meeting with Corinthian Boys in Cork next month. Town would like to thank Frank O'Keeffe and the Lions Club for kindly arranging for a meal for both teams after the game.

Junior Action - 29th Mar

The A team travel to Peake Villa on Sunday afternoon looking to take full points in their pursuit of a fourth league title on the trot. The B team travel to Moyglass where nothin else but a win will be needed to ensure promotion to the 1st Division. Best of luck to both teams.

Joe Delaney Cup - 29th Mar

The Youth team on Saturday play long term rivals St Michaels in the Complex in the Joe Delaney Cup Semi Final 1st leg. Kick off is fixed for 2.30pm. Best of luck.

Penalty Kings Town Through To Semi - 25th Mar

Clonmel Town qualified for the Munster Junior Cup Semi on Sunday afternoon by disposing of the heavily fancied Pike Rovers 4-3 on a penalty shoot-out after both sides had produced a nail biting 110 minutes of fine football with a 1-1 draw. It was Aaron Moroney who slotted home the 4th and final penalty which sent players and fans ecstatic as they now look on course for a record breaking 4th appearance in a provincial final. It was Town who got the better of the start as early as the 7th minute they were in front. An inswinging corner from the left foot of Ian Barnes was drifted in teasingly evaded nearly everyone only for Raymie Condon to force home the ball at the back post to the net for 4th goal of the season. In fairness to Pike they dusted themselves down and got themselves back into the game and gave the Town defense a couple of scares, most notably a shot outside the box which nearly caught Richie Ryan off his line only for him to make a wonderful save with his finger tips. Pikes pressure paid off and in the 20th minute they were level after failing to deal with a corner, the ball was slammed to the net by Pikes Dave Morris. Town looked to be in right trouble when they lost Kenneth Kiely through injury and was replaced by Darren Burns. Both sides had their chances for the remainder of the half with Alan Coady and Moroney working tirelessly upfront but could not break down a neat Rovers back four marshalled by the impressive Colm Enright. Town seemed a more possessed team in the 2nd half and swarmed their opponents. Paul Scully and Ian Barnes were now on top at midfield. Burns had tightened the right flank and Aidan Landers seemed more at ease in the centre. Tony Scullys breaks from midfield and link up play with the front two caused a lot of bother with Coady going close on numourous occasions. Scully was then unlucky when he smashed the crossbar with a freekick. Extra time loomed and with the fresh legs of Michael McHugh and Michael Coady it seemed Town were the more dangerous side but could not find that deserved second goal. For the second time this season Town faced a penalty shoot-out. All did not look well as the normally reliable Barnes had his penalty saved but with Tony Scully, Michael Coady, Michael McHugh and Aaron Moroney all on target and hero of the day Richie Ryan saving two penalties it was Town who ran out 4-2 winners. Town will now face Maymount Celtic in the Semi Final in Turners Cross on April 15th. Well done to Charlie, Bobba and all the players.

B's Into Shield Final - 25th Mar

The B team qualified for their 3rd Shield Final in a row as they defeated Vee Rovers in the Complex on Sunday morning thanks to a double from Egyptian Leon Magar and the other from Declan O'Brien. They will now face Cashel Town in the final. Well done to Bradley, Johnny and all the players.

Schoolboy Review - 25th Mar

The U12's hosted St Kevins on Saturday morning but were not in very entertaining mood as they swamped their opponents with a nine goal feast. A James Murphy hatrick, Sam Ryan and Colman Kennedy two each and captain Ian Fahey and Bill Maher completed the route. Well done to Cyril, Chris and all the players. A very strong and determined Cahir Park team won the first of the encounters between these two evenly matched U11 teams in the league this season at Aseiri last Saturday morning. On a beautiful sunny day both teams were ready for the big game as it has been a stop start season so far, Cahir started much the stronger and the Town lads did well to stay with them in the first 15 minutes and gradually got in to the game, both teams had chances to score but it ended level at half time. The second half started the same way as the first with Cahir on top, winning all the 50/50 challenges and showing some great determination in the tackle. Having said that town did have a good chance to go ahead when the ball broke in the penalty area only for the chance to go, Padraigh Looram caused Cahir a lot of problems with his power and pace and was denied by the Cahir keeper on a couple of occasions, just when we thought it was going to end scoreless up popped Cahir with the winner when the Town defence failed to clear. Town had an equaliser rightly ruled out late in the game and Cahir ended this game on a high. After a good competitive game I think we can look forward to a very exciting campaign over the next few weeks.

JB Cabs Sponsorship - 25th Mar

Clonmel Town FC would like to thank John Beckett of the newly established J.B. Cabs (0873137778) for sponsoring a set of new jersey for our B team. We would like to wish him the very best of success in his new buisness venture.

Town Travel To Shannonside - 22nd Mar

Two heavyweights in Munster Junior soccer sqaure up on Sunday afternoon as holders Clonmel Town do battle with high-flying Pike Rovers in the quarter final of the Munster Junior Cup in Limerick. Both teams have a wealth of experience in their sides, this game should not be missed. Best of luck to Charlie, Bobba and all the players. If you wish to travel to the game supporters should take a left at the Tipperary road roundabout which is the first one you will meet, you then travel onto the Kilmallock roundabout and take a left there also. Drive up for about a half a kilometre and on the right-hand side you will see an entrance to a laneway, take the turn up there, you wont miss the pitch.

B's Look To Shield Final - 22nd Mar

The B team play the 2nd leg of the Shield Semi Final on Sunday morning against Vee Rovers, having lost all hope of winning the 2nd Division title to Moyglass the previous week Town will look to qualify for the final and have some consolation for the disappointment of not winning the league. They are up 5-1 from the first leg so should not have any problems disposing of the Clogheen side. Kick off at 11am. Best of luck to Bradley, Johnny and all the players.

Schoolboy Action - 22nd Mar

The U12's entertain St Kevins in The Complex on Saturday morning at 11am and will look to keep their 100% league record alive with another win. The U14 game has been postponed.

B's Dump Cashel Out Of Cup - 18th Mar

Robbie (Zoolander) Boland proved again to be the thorn in Cashel Town's side as on Sunday afternoon his equaliser three minutes from time was enough to send this pulsating cup tie into extra-time. Town controlled proceedings throughout the game but were down 1-0 after a defensive mistake saw the ball ricochet off defender Simon Scully and past a helpless Raymond Boyle. Town once again to their credit fought their way back with Bolands inswinging cross evaded the keepr and steered to the net to put the game one apiece. Extra time loomed and with Town becoming the more and more stronger of the two sides they took the game by the scruff of the neck. A sublime pass from Barry Kiely five minutes into the first period of extra time into the path of Declan O'Brien saw the onrushing keeper sweep O'Brien to the ground which referee Johnny Lyons could only point to the spot. O'Brien drove his penalty past the keeper to send Town followers into histerics and into the quarter final of the Tipperary Cup for the very first time. Town held out for a well deserved victory over their Second Division rivals. They now face an away trip to Tipperary Cup favourites Peake Villa which indeed should be very interesting game. Well done to Bradley, Johnny and all the players.

A's Recieve Walkover - 18th Mar

The A team recieved a walkover from St Nicholas on Sunday morning for the second time this season. The 3 points from the walkover see them go joint top of the Premier League wih St Michaels on 32 points from 12 games played. St Michaels have played an extra game.

Moroney Penalty Earns Draw - 11th Mar

An Aaron Moroney penalty fifteen minutes from time was enough to secure a 1-1 draw for Town against rivals St Michaels in the Complex on Sunday afternoon. In a very scrappy and poor game played in atrocious conditions both teams found it hard to play any decent football. Michaels took the lead ten minutes after the restart but Town, who went down to ten men following the dismassal of Alan Coady fought bravely back into the game and levelled after Paul Scully had been felled in the box by James Walsh. Well done to Charlie, Bobba and all the players.

B's League Hopes Distinguished - 11th Mar

The B teams hopes of three titles in a row all but came to an end on Sunday morning as they were held to a 1-1 draw to lowly Glengoole. The B's had started the strongest and Darren Burns had put them infront with a fine effort. Town failed to push on after taking the lead which would be their downfall. Disaster struck as midway through the second half Glengoole pounced to seal a 1-1 draw for the Mid-Tipp side which effectively ended Town's title hopes. Town however still have a chance of promotion to Division 1 but will need to defeat leaders Moyglass in their final league game.

Schoolboy Review - 11th Mar

The U14 game on Saturday morning had to be postponed following the inury of the referee in a U12 game that morning. Unfortunately the league officials were unable to appoint another referee and the lads had to do without a game.

Old Foe's Come To Town - 8th Mar

Town entertain St Michaels on Sunday afternoon in the Complex in their first meeting of the season in the Premier Division. A win here for any side is vital which would go a long way in deciding the destination of the Premier title this year. Best of luck to Charlie, Bobba and all the lads.

Vital Game For B Team - 8th Mar

The B team play their last home league game of the season and what a vital game it will be. Trailing leaders Moyglass by 2 points, a win here would see them put extra pressure on Moyglass who do not play till next weekend away to Vee Rovers. Both teams have currently played twelve games. Town play Moyglass in their last game of the season which will probably decide the 2nd Division League. Best of luck to Bradley, Johnny and all the lads.

Schoolboy Preview - 8th Mar

Town Win In Cork - 5th Mar

Clonmel Town advanced to the last 8 of the Munster Junior Cup and setup a mouth-waering clash with Pike Rovers or Ashling Anacotty of Limerick by defeating Rockmount 4-0 in Cork on Sunday afternoon. Both Tony Scully(2) and Aaron Moroney scored their 15th goals each of the season to ensure Town's safe passage through to the Quarter Finals. Alan Coady added the fourth. Match report to follow. Well done to Charlie Sean and all the players.

Schoolboy Review - 5th Mar

The U13's had a fine 5-0 win over Cashel Town in the Complex on Saturday morning. Philip Noonan(2), Michael Quinlivan, Bill Maher and Ian Fahey all scored which gives them a strong chance of retaining their league crown. Meanwhile, the U15's chances of league titles are all but lost after going down 3-1 to St Kevins. Well done to all. Town opened the scoring through John Ryan but ten minutes later Kevins made it 1-1 against the run of play. Defensive mistakes two minutes into the second half saw Kevins go 2-1 until they sealed the game in the final minutes to give them a 3-1 victory. Hard to luck to all.

Junior Preview - 28th Feb

The A team travel to Cork to take on the might of Rockmount in the Munster Junior Cup last 16. Best of luck to all. The B team face rivals Cashel Town for a place in the Tipperary Cup Quarter Final. These two sides are no stranger to each other so this should be another tight game. Junior Review - 25th Feb

The A team defeated Old Bridge 5-2 in Ferryhouse on Sunday morning. Bridge opened the scoring with Eoin Leahy strike. Tony Scully equalised with a freekick. Aaron Moroney then put Town ahead but Eoin Leahy then got his second to make it 2-2. Ian Barnes then got in on the scoring act when he scored from a wonderful freekick and minutes later from a ferocious shot outside the box. Moroney put the icing on the cake with a neat finish three minutes from time. The B team kept the league aspirations alive with a 3-0 victory over Sarsfield Rovers. Two first half strikes from Decky O'Brien and one from Richie Crowe sealed victory. Well done to both teams.

Schoolboy Review - 25th Feb

The U11 B team earned their first point of the league season drawing 1-1 away to Cahir Park with John Bates scoring the all important goal. Well done to Mick and his team. The U14's went six points clear at the top of the league by beating nearest rivals St Michaels 3-0 in Ferryhouse. Town tore into Michael's from kickoff and after five minutes of action they were 2-0. Shane Ryan's cushion header set the prolific Caique Silva in on goal and he finished with relative ease. Ryan then got in on the scoring as he drilled home from the edge of the square following a corner. Town secured victory in the 2nd half when Silva scored his 10th of the season to steal in behind the defence to slot home a cross from Shane Power. Well done to Chris, Michael and their team. The U12's kept up their 100% league record by also beating St Michael's 4-0 in the Complex. Sam Ryan chipped in with two goals with Bill Maher and Ciaran Brady netting the other two. Well done to Cyril, Chris and their team. The U16's bowed out of the National Cup going down 3-1 to Tramore. Craig brew netted for Town. Hard luck to Billy, Michael and their team on a great cup run.

Junior Action - 22nd Feb

Clonmel Town once again are on the road to Cork in the Munster Junior Cup to face Rockmount in the 6th round. Town last week disposed of Bay Rovers and will look to up their performance if they look to have any chance to retain their title. Town have been boosted with the return to training of captain Paul Scully, he should play some part in the game. Town B's entertain Sarsfield Rovers in Ferryhouse at 3pm. Both sides have come through the Divisions of the Tipperary League in the last couple of years so they know each other inside out. Rovers are always a tough side to beat, only recently dumping Tipperary Cup holders Michaels out of the cup. No doubt the B's will have their work cut out. Best of luck to both teams.

Schoolboy Action - 22nd Feb

There are quite a number of significant Schoolboy games on this weekend. The U11 B team play Cahir Park at 11am in Cahir. Town Advance In Munster - 18th Feb

Clonmel Town advanced to the 5th round of the Munster Junior Cup by defeating Bay Rovers 5-1 on Sunday last and setup a mouth-watering clash with Rockmount next week in the Cork. Town started slowly and were 1-0 after five minutes play following a defensive mix-up but minutes later Ian Barnes had the sides level with a superb effort outside the box. Town created numerous chances in the first half but failed to add to their tally and the sides remained level at half-time. The second half started brightly for Town and Aaron Moroney put Town ahead following some neat work from the busy Barnes. Michael Coady minutes later made it 3-1 when he drifted in from the left and his low shot left the keeper helpless. Tony Scully made the game safe for Town as he scored a cracking free kick from the edge of the box. Scully added his second and Town’s fifth in the closing minutes as he was put through by a fine pass from Town debutant Ilja Zemen. The game finished on a 5-1 scoreline. Town now travel to Cork again next Sunday to take on the might of Rockmount. Well done to Charlie, Bobba and all the players on a great win.

B's Out Of Paddy Purtill - 18th Feb

The B team were disappointingly knocked out of the Paddy Purtill Cup on Sunday afternoon by fellow reserve side St Michaels. Town had done all the running in the first half and even had the ball in the back of the net from a Barry Kiely header but it was ruled out by a suspicious offside decision from the referee. Town failed to score in the first half which in hindsight would be their downfall as minutes into the second half Michaels took the lead due to a lack of concentration in the Town defence which saw the home side become more confident and gained control of the tie. Town made some personnel changes in midfield and came back into the game and was it not for some sloppy finishing could have equalised. Town’s best spell came in the last ten minutes virtually camping in the Michaels half but could not find the all important equaliser and exited the competition t the quarter final stage. Hard luck to all involved.

Youths Out Of Munster - 18th Feb

For the second week in a row the Youth team were knocked out of a major competition by Waterford Bohemians. Saturday night saw them defeated 1-0 in Waterford, more disappointingly after having played some superb football. All is not lost as they are still on course to retain their Cup title and in the running for the League.

Schoolboy Review - 17th Feb

The A team travel the long distance to the seaside town of Bantry to take on Bay Rovers in the 4th round of the Munster Junior Cup. Youths Out Of FAI - 10th Feb

Our youth team lost out to Waterford Bohs in the 5th round of the FAI Youth Cup last Saturday. The game finished 0-0 after 90 minutes but two goals at the start of each period of extra time where enough to send Bohs through. Town did start the better of the two sides and in the 12th minute Rory Kiely headed just wide from a corner. Five minutes later Dwayne Burns was unlucky to see his shot go inches wide after a great through ball from Rory Kiely. In the second half Bohs came more into the game and forced a few chances. However in the 7oth minute David McGrath was unlucky to see his effort bounce wide. The game then went to extra time and Bohs scored either side of the two extra halves to go through to round six. This was an excellent game between two very good sides. However Town have an opportunity to reverse this result next Saturday when they travel to Waterford to play Bohs in the Munster Youth Cup. Kick off is at 7pm. Hard luck to Chris, Bradley and all the players

U14 League: Clonmel Town 5-0 Peake Villa - 10th Feb

The Under 14s moved to the top of the table with a comfortable victory over Peake Villa in Ferryhouse last Saturday. The visitors, who are the only side to take points off this Town team so far this season, proved extremely difficult to break down in the early stages and it wasn't until captain Jonathan Ryan scored just before the break that Town took the lead. The second half was a different matter and Caique Silva doubled the lead when he finished a great cross from Shane Taylor. Shane Power made it three with a powerful shot from the edge of the area and midfielders Shane Ryan and Billy Hewitt added further goals before the end.

U16 SFAI Cup 5th Round: Clonmel Town 4-0 Athy Town - 10th Feb

The U16's joined their U12 clubmates in the last sixteen of the national cup when they had an excellent victory over their midland visitors in Ferryhouse last Saturday. The early stages were a close affair and both sides struck the woodwork in the first ten minutes before Town started to get on top as the half wore on. Gavin Fraher broke the deadlock with a powerful header from an Alan Lambe corner before Lambe himself made it two when his next corner deceived the Athy defence and ended in the net. The second half was only ten minutes old when Town made the game safe. Alan Lambe picked the ball up near the half way line and weaved his way past a number of defenders before drilling a left foot shot into the bottom corner for a wonderful goal. With ten minutes left Evan Maguire put the icing on the cake when he scored the fourth to crown a fully deserved win for Billy Lambe's side who now look forward to a last sixteen meeting away to Tramore Athletic.

Blarney evened things up with 10 minutes gone in the 2nd half from a ferocious shot which was spiled by Comerford and gifted Blarney an equaliser until James Murphy stole the show with a fine individual goal rounding the keeper to see him team through to the 6th round with minutes remaining. The U14's had an easy run out with a nine goal haul against Mullinahone in the league. Two each from Caique Silva, Michael Quinlivan, Danny O'Connor and a goal each from Billy Hewitt, Shane Taylor and Liam Boland gave the defending champions the three deserved points away from home. U15 League: Clonmel Town 5-1 Clerihan - 20th Jan

The U15's romped to a 5-1 victory over local rivals Clerihan in Ferryhouse on Sturday afternoon. Craig Brew opened the scoring with ten minutes gone to make it 1-0 to Town. Brew doubled his tally to make it 2-0 ten minutes later beating the offside trap and shooting past the keeper to give them a comfortable half-time lead. Town tore into the Clerihan from the restart and Evan McGuire increased their lead with a fine effort inside the square to make it 3-0. Minutes later Evan O'Dwyer missed a chance to make it 4-0 after he blazed over from the spot after Damian McCarthy had been upended in the box. Clerihan did pull a goal back to make it 3-1 but some changes in Town's firepower saw substitute Caique Silva make it 4-1 and moments later Brew claim his deserved hatrick for a 5-1 thrashing. The U13's had a great win over Clonmel Celtic in Ferryhouse on 3-0 scoreline with the vital goals coming from Michael Quinlivan(2) and Philip Noonan. Well done to both teams. The two U11 A & B games were victims of the bad weather due to unplayable pitches.

Back To League Action - 18th Jan

Both Junior teams are back to domestic league action this weekend. The A team following their heroics in the FAI Junior Cup last weekend welcome Bansha Celtic to the Complex. Town Sweep Past The Boro - 14th Jan

Town produced one of their best displays this year defeating Limerick high flyers Janesboro 3-0 in the Complex to book a place in the 7th round of the FAI Junior Cup. Town had a dream start as a mix up in the Janesboro defence saw Raymie Condon react quickest to put his team 1-0 up. Paul Scully put Town 2-0 up with two minutes to the half-time whistle when he snuck in at the back post to tap home. Ian Barnes sealed the tie as a contest when his shot from 25 yards zipped past the keeper, hit the crossbar and spun into the net for quite an amazing strike. Match report to follow. Well done to Charlie, Bobba and all the players.

B's Stroll To Victory - 14th Jan

The B team took a giant step in qualifing for their third Shield Final in as many years as they swept past Vee Rovers in a blustery Clogheen on Sunday morning. Town opened the scoring in the first tem minutes as Glen Conways sweet pass saw Richie Crowe dodge the offside trap to round the oncoming keeper. Town pushed forward in search of their second and were lucky on a number of occasions. Town recieved a setback as Rovers pulled one back as a cross wasnt dealt with efficiently and a man was onhand at the back post to strike home. Town restored their lead on the stroke of half-time as Richie Crowe jumped highest to nod the ball towards the goal only to be deflected of a defender and into the net which gave the visitors a 2-1 advantage. Town really showed their class as in the second half playing against a strong wind produced the better football and within minutes of the restart a fantastic three man move involving Richie Crowe, Barry Kiely and Declan O'Brien ended with Youth player John O'Brien fnishing to the net which put them 3-1 up. O'Brien terrorised the Vee defence in the 2nd half and he got his second of the morning to make it 4-1 with a clinical finish following a dazzling 20 yard run. With ten minutes left on the clock super sub James Power showed he still has the touches with some trademark trickery as he rounded the keeper to make it 5-1 and his first of the season.

A's Exit Tipp Cup - 7th Jan

Town's Rock Rovers cup hoodoo struck again last Sunday as they defeated our A team 2-1 in Deerpark. Rock took the lead early on in the game following a low shot which decieved Richie Ryan in goal. Town fought back courageously as expected and were all level 5 minutes before halftime as Tony Scully reached double figures for the season as he struck with a sweet right foot volley which whizzed past the keeper for his 10th goal this season. As conditions deteriorated in Rovers second pitch the game became very scrappy and could of went either way as both defences struggled to cope with the heavy pitch. Unfortuately for Town it was Rock who struck the next, a goal which was to be the final nail in the Town's coffin. A free kick box evaded the wall which left Richie Ryan helpless in the goal. Town will need to up their game 100% next weekend against Janesboro if they wish to continue ther cup exploits in the FAI Junior. Hard to luck to Charlie, Bobba and all the players.

B's Advance In Tipp Cup - 7th Jan

The B team entertained Galbally Utd B in the 1st round of the Tipperary Cup on Sunday morning in Ferryhouse in terrible conditions for football. Galbally to their credit stood up to Town and had held Town scoreless up the the 20th minute until Declan O'Brien broke clear on goal and he slid the ball through the keepers legs. Barry Kiely made it 2-0 on the half hour mark when he was onhand to follow in with a rebound after the keeper saved from O'Brien. Town gave themseves a 3-0 lead at half time when old hand Robbie Boland scored a marvellous individual goal on his return and first start of the season. In the 2nd half Town faced an enormous breeze which curtailed their attacking intentions but still had numourous chances to increase their lead but failed to take advantage. The defence held their own and kept a welcome clean sheet for Town to advance to round two thanks to a neat 3-0 victory. Well done to Glen, Bradley and all the players.
